Working in mental space using mental space psychology can be carried out successfully with this strategy. You would do well to follow these steps for successful change work….

1.
The precise elaboration of a problem context and the emotional-physical association with this problem situation addresses the relevant projection surface of the mental space that can be worked with.

2.
All facts related to the problem (people involved, time, abilities, etc.) are to be manifested emotionally and physically in the mental space (= elicitation of personality parts).
Everything can be manifested (e.g. people, groups, activities, time, …).

3.
A 3rd (observer) and 4th (systemic observer) position must also be established in the mental space. The change in association from one manifestation to another should always take place via the disassociated observer position.

4.
Ideally, all manifestations are marked as cards on the floor so that the client can physically move around in the real space. If this is not possible (e.g. during video conferences), the locations are documented in 3D space (notes, system board, …) and precise navigation instructions are required from the coach.

5.
Starting from the observer position, associate emotionally and physically into all manifestations and raise the feelings of relationship in the form of sensual-concrete submodalities to all other manifestations and also to one’s own manifestation in order to identify incoherences. Incoherences can express themselves in bad feelings or „exaggerated“ good feelings. They can also manifest themselves in the mental space through deviations between the „world views“ of the individual sensory systems, so that, for example, the person is standing in front of you (visual) but the voice (auditory) is speaking from behind.

6.
Feelings are always an expression of a relationship, so problems are basically relationship problems between manifestations.

7.
Feelings can only be changed by changing the manifestations involved in the relationship. (direct change of submodalities or fusion of resources)

8.
Coherence is given when all manifestations feel comfortable in relation to themselves and to all other manifestations (= inner peace).

9.
Sustainability is given if there are also no objections from the 3rd and 4th positon
(Ken Wilber’s AQAL model).

10.
The solution in the mental space always relates to the selected problem context.
